Melanjutkan tulisan tentang terapi khelasi serta artikel tentang manfaat kedelai, selanjutnya saya ingin menjelaskan sedikit tentang terapi plaquex®. Terapi ini kerap digunakan oleh para dokter yang melakukan terapi khelasi sebagai komplementer terhadap terapi khelasi.

Namun ternyata, banyak sekali manfaat dari terapi plaquex yaitu untuk pencegahan ataupun terapi/pengobatan penyakit sistem sirkulasi ( circulatory disorders ). In the United States much has been written about the beneficial effects of diet, exercise, vitamins, minerals, nutritionals, and chelation therapy in the prevention and treatment of circulatory disorders.

For many years, Caring Medical and Rehabilitation Services, S.C., has been one of the main natural medicine clinics around the country using these treatments with success. At one stretch, Caring Medical had gone several years without one of its heart disease clients ever getting an angioplasty, angiogram, or bypass surgery.

In the year 2000, a couple of patients required such procedures because of the extensiveness of their disease, necessitating the research team at Caring Medical to see if even these advanced cases of circulatory compromise might be helped by some type of interventional natural medicine. Plaquex is compromised of essential phospholipds, with 70% of it being phosphatidylcholine. Studies have shown that one of the biochemical changes which occur with aging is a change in membrane lipid composition with levels of phosphatidylcholine declining substantially. In animal studies it has been shown that the I.V. administration of essential phospholipids rich in phosphatidylcholine are able to reverse age-related changes in the lipid composition of heart muscle cells. This regenerative effect is manifested by an improvement in blood enzyme levels (like CPK), improved heart and lung function, and by increased longevity in the treated individual. Studies on laboratory animals indicate that treating relatively aged animals with phosphatidylcholine over an extended period increases animal lifespan by an average of about 36%.

PROCEDURE
Plaquex contains

• 2500mg of essential phospholipids (70% phosphatidylcholine),
• 1250 mg deoxycholic acid,
• 10mg vitamin E,
• 10mg Nicotinic acid,
• 10mg Adenosine triphosphate,
• 450mg benzyl alcohol,
• and 120mg of ethanol.

Plaquex is mixed at room temperature with 250 ml of D5W. Treatment one uses 10cc of Plaquex, number 2, 20 ml and so on until treatment 5 where 50 ml of Plaquex are used. If a person weighs more than 170 pounds, Plaquex can be increased to 60 ml. It is recommended that 60 ml per treatment not be exceeded. The Plaquex is administered intravenously slowly for the duration of at least 90 minutes.

The treatments can be given daily. For significant heart disease 40 or more treatments may be needed.

SIDE EFFECTS
If the I.V. is given too rapidly a fall in blood pressure can occur.

Seriously ill patients, especially candidates for bypass surgery, angioplasty, amputation or stroke will most of the time experience diarrhea and have elevated liver enzymes at the beginning of the treatment, which is easily controlled by imodium. As a rule these side effects will disappear and the liver enzymes will return to normal.

Some patients will get phlebitis (inflammation of the vein) at the site where the Plaquex is given. In such an instance make sure at least a 22 G Teflon catheter is used. Sometimes the Plaquex needs to be given in 500 ml of D5W to further dilute it.
